Circuit Racing

My first real taste of a full on race meeting was at Surfers Paradise in 1986 when Dad, Paul and I attended the ATTC round. This was many years before the Indy race and on the old Surfers Paradise circuit which has since been redeveloped into housing. I managed to meet guys such as Brockie, Dick Johnson and Alan Grice. Was the start of my love affair with motorsport.Team JPSOn this page are a few of the photos from the pits and the dummy grid at the race. It was good to be able to get so close to the cars that previously I had only seen on TVDJ MustangThese days it's quite normal for me to be around race and rally cars:)

I think one of my most favourite race meetings was at the Thunderdome at Calder in the late 80's. A packed crowd of over 50,000 certainly made the atmosphere electric. Large field of NASCARS with some top drivers coming out from the USA and a full field of 40 AUSCARS.

I have been lucky enough to drive on many of Australia's race circuits, they include Oran Park, Phillip Island, Winton, Calder Park, Mallala, Eastern Creek, Wakefield Park, Sandown and Bathurst. With Oran Park to be closed after next weekends races, we will have a severe shortage of tracks here in NSW.
